Element Power accepts first grid connection offer between UK and Ireland

Element PowerLess than a month after Eddie O’Connor’s Mainstream Renewable Power announced its €12.5bn plan to create a network of wind farms in Co Offaly to produce electricity for export to the UK another renewable energy company, Element Power, has announced it has secured a grid connection of 3,000 megawatts to the UK’s national grid. Similar to the earlier proposal Element Power’s “Greenwire” aims to construct a series of interconnected wind farms in the Irish Midlands to export wind generated electricity to consumers in the UK via two commercially owned subsea cables.
