The four great challenges for the European gas market – Kirsten Westphal in the European Energy Review

Recent changes in regulatory regimes towards has left the European gas market extremely vulnerable particularly in relation to security of supply. So argues Kirsten Westphal, Senior Researcher at the German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), who has identified four key challenges that market players and policymakers must tackle immediately if we are to improve current uncertainties. She also offers several solutions towards resolving those challenges. Contrary to what neoliberals would have us believe, “the market alone will not ensure security of supply”.
